An insite into a majority US feeling from an american writer

The following is a article genuinly written by an american. I feel it gives a real insite into the feelings of many of the american people, a feeling that we here in Britain are not always aware of:

War on God

There was a time in our not too distant past when the assault began. It cannot be denied that our nation was founded on the principle belief in God. Exhibit A:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

And further down in this historic document:

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

Clearly, if you know your history, you know they are not talking about some mystical juju here, but indeed the God of the Bible. If our Founding Fathers felt this way, by what right does our Supreme Court have to change this fundamental part of our country? The oft stated and misunderstood 1st Amendment does indeed secure the freedom of religion. Nowhere in the Amendment does it contain any wording that supports the freedom from religion some Americans want.

Consider this:

In one of the most pivotal moments of our nation’s history, where we were fighting not only to maintain our freedoms but the freedom of many, many nations, General Dwight Eisenhower made the following speech:

“Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward

which we have striven these many months…

Good Luck ! And let us beseech the blessing of

Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”

How would this inspiring speech be affected had the Supreme Court forbidden a government employee from invoking the name of God in an official document? Would it have boosted the morale in the same way? I think not.

It is far past time we stop the insanity, and push for our Presidents to nominate Supreme Court Justices that are more concerned with holding up our founding documents that they are with abusing the power of their positions.

The time of the Supreme Court putting up a first4sale sign in the window needs to come to an end.
