How the American Government is Taking Away Parent’s Rights

I was reading this american polotics blog, and I decided that some things needed to be said. In the U.S. hundreds of parents have gotten in legal trouble for spanking their kids. And we’re not talking about child abuse– where a child gets broken bones, bruises and other problems due to their spanking. Usually, these incidents involve a parent giving a child a quick swap on the bottom for misbehavior; nothing that is unacceptable by spanking proponents. Still, if a third-party notices the spanking, a parent could get in serious trouble.

Such nonsense has resulted in an overload of Social Service cases that should’ve never been on the books in the first place. Kids who are in good homes get taken away, sometimes for months at a time because SOMEONE ELSE doesn’t agree with how a parent exercises their authority. Parents give their children a light swat on the behind for be disruptive and misbehaving and you notice someone watching with their brow lift and frown on face.

There is also a darker side for parents of manipulative or psychopathic kids. With them, there’s always the threat of the Social Service call, even if no spanking has occurred. And if a spanking has occurred, parents can get arrested and sent to jail.

As a result of all this, Americans are living in a society where parents have lost all control. Kids and teens are calling the shots until their misbehavior catches up with them. Then, in an ironic twist of fate, they succumb to a worse violence– whether it’s from a john, or a cell mate. Sometimes such violence even kills them.

Of course, don’t get me wrong– I’m not one of those parents that is diehard on spanking. I myself prefer time-out unless my child is doing something dangerous. However, I also don’t like the idea of Social Services forcing parents to do time-outs. As long as parents aren’t being abusive, they should be free to discipline their kids as they choose.

In conclusion, the American Social Services needs to get an overhaul, along with the culture as a whole. Ultimately, they need to focus on situations where real abuse has occurred, and stop messing with people who are just trying to get their kids in line.
