Out of House Arrest.
What a brilliant idea. I have always thought that the laws surrounding domestic violence were back to front. When a woman has been assaulted by her husband or partner she should not have to leave her own home to feel safe. If anyone is to be punished then surely it should be the abuser and not the abused. I am sure there will be someone who will be opposed to the Police being given greater powers but I cannot think why. If a new law will help to protect women from violence then it has to be a good thing.
There is absolutely no excuse for physical violence in any relationship. We all have moments where we feel angry but lashing out at someone is a different matter altogether. Unfortunately domestic violence has always gone on in many homes. Perhaps this new law will help to change things for the better.
So, does this mean that British law is finally being brought up to date? I really do hope so because there are all sorts of other things that need to be sorted out. Far too much of our justice system is full of pomp, red tape and outdated procedures.
