Crisis in Cumbria.

Crisis in Cumbria.

The way that the people of Cumbria must have suffered over the past few days is not easy to imagine. They have experienced the wettest day ever since records began. I think the only people who can imagine how bad it really is are the ones who have been through the same thing themselves.

It is nice to see Gordon Brown visiting the flood victims and I hope that he sticks to his promises of financial help. These people have already been through an awful time and they need to get their lives back on track as quickly as possible.

The devastation that has been caused by the floodwaters is jaw-dropping. Water is an incredibly powerful force and it does not take long for it to do terrible damage. There is also the problem of it not only being rainwater that has poured into homes. Disease is now becoming a serious risk in the area as well.

One of the saddest stories about the flooding in Cumbria is that of PC Bill Barker who died whilst trying to help other people. He had been a policeman for twenty-five years and he apparently loved his job very much. He has left behind a wife and four teenage children.

Just how long it will take for things to get anywhere near back to normal in Cumbria is anyone’s guess. Hopefully, all of the insurance companies that are involved will work quickly and not quibble over different clauses… And I really do hope that the unfortunate families who did not have any home insurance manage to get some kind of help.

I am not sure what kind of Christmas these people are going to have but I am pretty sure it will not be the sort they had planned. They may not even be able to stay in their own homes over the festive period.

Flooding is becoming more of a threat in Britain all the time. Over the past few years there have been several terrible instances of it and people with property close to rivers must be getting very concerned.

Before I go, I want to update you all in the world of work. I have just finished adding a bit of new content on this London PR webpage. What else should I change?
